woodworker and sculptor, nathaniel makes original pieces that pioneer both form and function. he is informed by craft practices all over the world and through all the ages, drawing inspiration in particular from paleolithic artifacts and neolithic monoliths.

he has worked in several furniture shops in richmond, va and has taught classes and managed the woodshop at the visual arts center in richmond. nathaniel prefers to work with wood in its most basic form, starting with the log. he uses local wood that has been sustainably harvested or discarded.
